2018 Primary Texas Candidate Recommendations by the NTAG Elections Committee

2018 Primary Texas Candidate Recommendations by the NTAG Elections Committee

Dear NTAG members,

Early voting for the 2018 primaries begins TOMORROW, Tuesday, February 20, and Election day is March 6! Mail-in ballots have already been sent out. It’s time to get involved!

Below is a link to a complete list of all candidates running in the March 2018 Democratic and Republican primaries in Collin County. Based on our best observations, input from other NTAG members, and The Dallas Morning News endorsements, the NTAG Election Committee has made recommendations in both Democratic and Republican races in which there are two or more party candidates.

NTAG seeks candidates with progressive to moderate ideals who have the best chance of ousting extreme, right wing-agendized office-holders.  Our most important criteria is that they be in favor of functional government that can address our most pressing concerns, not commitment to extreme ideology.

Also note that these are our best choices among a field of, in many cases, very fine candidates. While we urge you to vote your conscience, by voting together we can make a bigger impact on our desired outcome: get progressive to moderate candidates in office!

PLEASE NOTE:  RECOMMENDATIONS (HIGHLIGHTED NAMES) WERE ONLY MADE IN CONTESTED PRIMARY RACES (e.g. Julie Luton in State Rep 70 is not highlighted, although we support her!). ADDITIONALLY—THERE WERE A FEW OFFICES THAT WE COULD NOT IN GOOD CONSCIENCE MAKE A RECOMMENDATION.  THESE ARE LEFT UNHIGHLIGHTED.

Remember, TEN TO WIN!

WE HAVE SOME OUTSTANDING CANDIDATES THIS SEASON. TALK TO or EMAIL TEN (or more!) OF YOUR FRIENDS, FAMILIES, CO-WORKERS, CLASSMATES OR ANYONE WHO CAN VOTE.

YOU can change the political direction of our state and our nation!

Respectfully submitted by the NTAG Elections Committee,

Cissy Oldner, Julie Jernigan , Richard Jernigan
